Answer  The Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods (OHAN) is an association of neighborhood associations.

OHAN is a voluntary group of people, from the Oak Hill and surrounding area, who meet monthly to review proposed changes to our community and offer input. We are not paid, and our only reward is a job well done. Sometimes our input is requested, and sometimes it is ignored.

We discuss about everything from libraries, pools, pipelines, parks, asphalt plants, roads, restrictive covenants and deed restrictions, city zoning, fund-raisers, signs, nuisances, crime, big-boxes and aquifers.

Some of us are an officer or representative of a neighborhood, but some of us are just concerned citizens. Our goal is to bring everyone in Oak Hill together and have representation for all.

Answer  Oak Hill has no legal boundaries, and never was incorporated. So where is Oak Hill? OHAN arbitrarily defined Oak Hill as Starting from Travis Country in the Northwest, neighborhoods bordering Brodie Lane down to the Travis/Hays County line, following the county line on the south up to Highway 290 West, and then neighborhoods bordering Circle Drive and Thomas Springs Road and finally along the Southwest Parkway. And of course, everything in between. Roughly, the neighborhoods that fall within the Oak Hill zip codes of 78735, 78736, 78737, 78739, 78748, and 78749.

Some neighborhoods consist of a single road, some are certified subdivisions with management and dues, and some are condo complexes. There are some 89 neighborhoods in the Oak Hill area, and this number is growing. Oak Hill needs you!!

Answer  We like to think of OHAN as the concerned citizens of Oak Hill and the surrounding area. We make every attempt to remain apolitical, not supporting any political party. We attempt to know, but do not endorse candidates. So who is really OHAN? It is the folks who come to the meeting. Including many of these folks, from time to time: Oak Hill Neighborhoods

Volunteers are needed. Do you have unexploited talent? Do you want to see the Highway 290 West project completed? What are your thoughts on toll roads? Are you interested in lowering your taxes? Do we need bicycle trails in Oak Hill? Do you have political ambitions? Do you have writing abilities?

Answer  We meet on the second Wednesday of every month.

We meet at the ACC Pinnacle building on the 10th floor, room 1012 at 7:00 PM. Come a bit early to socialize.

We generally meet from 7 PM to -9:00 PM, after which the meeting is informal.

Answer  The people who get our input (sometimes by request) are:

- developers, who generally would prefer not to start a development where it is not wanted.

- the Austin City Planning Commission

- the Austin City Staff

- the Austin City Council

- the "TxDoT (Texas Department of Transportation)

- Travis County (helped us to build Windmill Run Park))

- the police, EMS, and Fire Department.
